Our mission is to protect animals, to heal their sickness, to fight cruelty, and to educate others to do the same. We not only try to re-home unwanted animals, but also provide many services to the community aimed at improving conditions of animal welfare.

KAWS clinic
Our veterinary services (see listed below), by our resident veterinarian, Dr Aneska Loots are available to pets whose owners are on certain means-tested benefits. If you fall into this category, you need to check to see if you are in the catchment area.

We find homes for unwanted cats and dogs across the Garden Route. For out of area adoptions the animal has to be older than six months with a local animal welfare society to conduct a property check.

This fee includes the first two vaccinations, de-worming, sterilisation and microchipping.

If you are considering leaving a bequest to Knysna Animal Welfare Society (KAWS) in your Will, we have drawn up a Codicil form to assist you with this.
Please contact us and we will send you a copy or you can download it and print it out. All you will need to do is fill it in and attach it to your Will. Your money will be carefully spent and will benefit many.

One of the greatest things that you can donate is your time.
Volunteers are the life-blood of KAWS.
We need volunteers to walk the dogs, play with the cats, help out in the office, work in the KAWS charity shop, assist with fund raising events; the possibilities are endless!

Should you be able to assist with food donations for our animals, our doggies
absolutely LOVE Montego, Hills, Vet's Choice & Royal Canin and our kitties LOVE Hills!
We will gladly accept any other makes of food as this food goes a long way in feeding not only the kennel animals, but our clinic animals & animals in the poorer areas of Knysna & surrounds as well!
